Caligula: The Italian Cut
The infamous Caligula, recut, rescored, and dubbed in Italian by Franco Rossellini in 1983.
Originally directed by provocateur Tinto Brass and produced (or “corrupted”) by Penthouse’s Bob Guccione, the Italian Cut, put together by Franco Rossellini in 1983, was re-edited to exclude Guccione’s additional explicit scenes and add to the film restored footage, a new score, and a full Italian dub.
After the death of the paranoid emperor Tiberius, Caligula, his heir, seizes power and plunges the empire into a bloody spiral of madness and depravity.
Discover the perversion behind Imperial Rome and the epic story of its maddest Emperor. All the details of Caligula’s (Malcolm McDowell) cruel and bizarre reign are revealed right here: his unholy sexual passion for his sister, his marriage to Rome’s most infamous prostitute, his fiendishly inventive means of disposing those who would oppose him, and more!
